Meet
Sadie Smith
For over 15 years I've worked as a textile and print designer, creating collections for fashion and homeware brands including Temperley London and John Lewis & Partners before founding my own creative practice.
In 2020, while expecting my second daughter, I was made redundant from my homeware design role. What began on my kitchen table as Sadie Smith Studio has since grown into a creative business built on the principles of thoughtful design, craftsmanship and sustainability. Alongside hand painted Habutai silk pieces and textiles made exclusively in Scotland, my work has been showcased through pop-up retail events and curated artisan markets at Kelvingrove Museum & Art Gallery and V&A Dundee.
Wilde Ones is a natural extension of my design career and my desire to make creativity more sustainable. After years working within the fashion and interiors industry, I wanted to create experiences that celebrate making, reconnect people with materials, and encourage a more considered way of creating.
As a designer, maker and mum, I know how powerful creativity can be. I have a First Class Honours degree in Textile Design from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, and I've always loved sharing traditional crafts such as knitting, crochet and textile making with others.
Today, Wilde Ones delivers creative workshops and bespoke experiences for businesses, schools, festivals and communities. Whether we're making botanical inks, transforming old denim or giving reclaimed materials a second life, every session is designed to spark curiosity, build confidence and show that beautiful things can be made with what we already have.
What is Wilde Ones?
Wilde Ones is a creative studio celebrating sustainability, craftsmanship and the joy of making. Inspired by Oscar Wilde's belief that "One should either be a work of art, or wear a work of art," we create experiences that encourage people to do both.
Through fashion upcycling, botanical inks, textile crafts and bespoke creative workshops, we transform reclaimed materials into something beautiful, proving that creativity and sustainability can go hand in hand.
Whether we're working with schools, businesses, festivals or communities, every Wilde Ones experience is designed to inspire curiosity, nurture confidence and reconnect people with the value of making by hand.
